Volunteer Opportunities

We regularly recruit volunteers who wish to help translate and escort Japanese visiting the Bay Area, who wish to appear as guest speakers in our exchange programs, and who wish to help enhance our website. Or, if you'd just like to brush up on your Japanese speaking ability, or if you have personal experience with the Bay Area's uniquely diverse lifestyle and want to share that experience, or if you just plain want to help empower and give some freedom to Japanese youth visiting the Bay Area, please don't hesitate to contact us to volunteer for our programs.

We can always use a little help from people like you: students with strong volunteer spirits and desire to make things happen, anyone who is interested in volunteer positions below even if you do not have special skills or working experience in the areas. Japanese language skill is preferable.

Special Skills (not always necessarily required but desirable):

-   Translation/interpretation in Japanese and English

-         PR/marketing, event planning (project planning, marketing, admin assistant duties)

-         Fundraising

-         Japanese DTP

-         IT/network engineering, Japanese and English web design

-         Database development/management

-         Media editing (video, audio and online media)

-         Research skills with special knowledge in grantmaker research and market research, etc.

-         Computer trouble shooting (computer engineering, proficiency in PC and/or Mac)
