Violence Against Women in War and Conflict Situations Network, Japan (VAWW-NET Japan)

In the fall of 1997, the "International Conference on Violence Against Women in War and Armed Conflict Situations" was held in Tokyo with 40 participants from 20 countries. This conference provided the impetus for the establishment of the international VAWW-NET, and enabled women who are tackling this problem in many parts of the world to take action in solidarity across national borders.
